Marietta offers workshops several times a year for beginning and intermediate students in watercolor, pen & ink and drawing

Marietta enjoys working with youth and adults in private or small group lessons using most media.  Beginners to intermediate


$40 for a 1 1/2-hour private lesson.

Workshops.

Marietta Foster Smith was the founding artist of Rail Walk Studios & Gallery and still enjoys painting in her studio and being inspired by the other artists of Rail Walk.


Marietta does commission portraits, watercolor paintings, and oil paintings.  Her work has been shown in juried competitions, invitational exhibits, one-artist shows and group shows.


Her work was recently chosen for the Rowan Helping Ministries Honor Card. She received the Sallie Gifford Memorial Award for her piece in the Watercolor Society Fall Juried Exhibition and she has been selected to receive a 2019 Arts and Cultural Development Grant from the Rowan County Arts to take an artist retreat and present an exhibit in August/September 2019.


She has a degree in Arts Management from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC and completed her studio art courses at UNC-Greensboro.
